In celebration of International Women’s History Month, the University of Puerto Rico Alumni and Friends Abroad (UPRAA) invites you to meet three award-winning STEM leaders and innovators for a discussion on women in STEM careers.

About the Presenters:

Larissa Avilés-Santa M.D., M.P.H, is an expert on the study and prevention of diabetes and cardiovascular disease in underserved populations, particularly among Hispanic communities. Dr. Avilés-Santa received her M.D. from the University of Puerto Rico, School of Medicine. 

Lisandra Garay MS, PhD, is an engineer by career and a project manager at the National Transportation Safety Board. She graduated from civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez. 

Dr. Yajaira Sierra Sastre, is a Puerto Rican nanotechnology scientist, educator, and aspiring astronaut. Sierra Sastre aspires to become the first Puerto Rican  woman to travel to outer space. She is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez.
