The ASCB Minorities Affairs Committee is accepting applications for our Linkage Fellows Program and Travel Awards to the ASCB Annual Meeting. Please share with anyone who may be interested.

The ASCB Minorities Affairs Committee is now accepting applications for the Linkage Fellows Program.  Faculty from minority-serving institutions are eligible to apply for up to $5,000 to participate in a variety of professional and student development activities with the ASCB MAC. Funding is provided for Linkage Fellows to support outreach and activities that promote cell biology at their home institutions. Applications are due August 26, 2016.

The ASCB Minorities Affairs Committee is now accepting applications for Travel Awards to the 2016 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, CA. Travel awards are available for undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, junior faculty, and faculty at undergraduate teaching institutions. To qualify for a travel award, you must be an ASCB member or have recently submitted an application for ASCB membership and you must be the first author on a submitted abstract. As this is a federally funded program, it is restricted to US citizens and green card holders. Individuals from the following groups who have been shown to be underrepresented in biomedical research are eligible for MAC travel awards: African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans/Alaska Natives who maintain tribal affiliation or community attachment, Hawaiian Natives and natives of the U.S. Pacific Islands. Additionally, individuals with disabilities, defined as those with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, are also eligible. The application deadline is September 1, 2016.
