The physics department at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is 08/01/2022. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:  Teaches 24 credit hours (annually) of undergraduate courses in Physics.  This equates to roughly 3 lecture courses and 2 lab courses each semester.  The successful candidate will teach courses such as algebra- based and calculus-based first year physics and associated labs, as well as upper level courses such as modern physics, electronics, dynamics, engineering thermodynamics, engineering statics, quantum mechanics, electricity and magnetism, experimental physics, and computational physics. Additional duties include advising students, participating in departmental, college, and university service, and developing a modest research agenda involving undergraduates.
 
REQUIREMENTS:  The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Physics and will, preferably, have either post-doctoral experience in research and/or teaching. We are looking for a candidate with a research specialization that will complement our existing faculty research expertise. As such, we seek candidates with research interests in Physics Education Research, environmental physics, biophysics/biomedical physics, engineering physics, condensed matter, or optics. The successful candidate is expected to develop a modest research agenda with projects involving undergraduate students and to seek external funding for their scholarly endeavors. Scholarly endeavors should lead to state, national, and international meeting presentations and some publications in peer-reviews journals. The successful candidate will also participate in discipline service activities such as curriculum revisions, recruitment, outreach, etc.
