KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Working in print and online, the candidate will be expected to source, commission and edit news stories and blogs and source multimedia stories such as video • A background in space science and/or physical sciences will be an advantage • The candidate will have a good network of contacts in his or her chosen scientific field(s) • The candidate will be expected to source and write exclusive stories KEY SKILLS REQUIRED: The successful candidate should have: • A good science degree • Demonstrable success in breaking exclusive stories • An in-depth knowledge of specific academic areas – particularly in the area of space science and/or physical sciences – and the ability to use this as a basis for investigations and reports into cutting edge science • A good understanding of scientific issues that are of particular relevance to the United States • An ability to keep abreast of developments in your chosen field(s) and a strong motivation to cover compelling, timely, and authoritative news stories • A vision of the direction your chosen specialist scientific fields are moving in • Experience of working to daily or weekly deadlines and of working with other editors and a team of reporters Salaries / Benefits We offer competitive salaries and an excellent benefits package that will provide you with significant opportunities and advantages.
