The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus, seeks candidates for the following tenure-track positions:

COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES
Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor

Foreign Languages (Italian)

Requirements: PhD in Italian, in the field of Linguistics, Phonetics and/or History of the language; native or near native fluency in Italian, working knowledge of Spanish or commitment to learn it; research in your area of specialization and familiarity with recent developments in computer-assisted language teaching and learning; ability to teach another foreign language and teaching experience at the university level are highly recommended.

Foreign Languages (Portuguese)

Requirements: PhD in Portuguese, in the field of Applied Linguistics, second/foreign language acquisition and/or teaching; working knowledge of Spanish and English; teaching experience at the university level and native or near native fluency in Portuguese; research in your area of specialization and familiarity with recent developments in computer-assisted language teaching and learning. Priority will be given to candidates who have prior experience with coordinating teaching assistants (TA's). Speci~c duties: Coordination of the College of Humanities Language Teaching Assistants Program.

Linguistics (Neurolinguistics/Clinical Linguistics)

Requirements: PhD in Linguistics, with a specialization in Neurolinguistics; teaching experience at university level, a record of research and publications in Neuroscience, Neurolinguistics or Speech Pathology, and knowledge of Spanish are assets. Priority will be given to applicants with experience in the design and implementation of research projects in Psycholinguistics, L1 or L2 acquisition, Speech Pathology/Communication Disorders, Neuroscience and Clinical Linguistics. Specific duties: Collaboration with researchers in neuroscience from other units at the University of Puerto Rico or elsewhere.

Linguistics (Acquisition and Phonology)

Requirements: PhD in Linguistics, with a specialization in acquisition and phonology; teaching experience at university level, experience in experimental research and in the acquisition of phonology, and knowledge of Spanish are assets.

Acting

Requirements: MFA in Acting, PhD in Theatre preferred. Must have courses and/or training in voice, diction, and singing techniques for actors. Experience in the ~eld of theatre, as well as experience in research and teaching in higher education, and in theatrical creation.

Theatre Arts

Requirements: PhD in Theatre, with courses or experience directing actors and stage movement. Professional experience in the fields of Theatre and English in higher education. Specific duties: Teaching courses in Contemporary Theatre History, Theory, and Criticism; Analysis of Dramatic Texts; and Auditions, Voice, and Diction in English, among others. Advise and guide auditions in English. Participate actively in the productions and academic proposals of the Drama Department.

Theatre Design

Requirements: MFA in Theatre Design. PhD in Theatre preferred, with courses or experience in Stage Lighting, Stage Design and Building, Stage Technology and Technical Production. Professional experience in the field of Theatre and in higher education preferred. Speci~c duties: Teach courses in Stage Lighting, Stage Design, Technical and Theatrical Production, History of Stage Design, Props, and Stage Management, among others. Design and supervise building of lighting and stage design in the productions of the Drama Department.

Expected duties for all positions:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and conduct research and publish in their areas of specialty. Develop proposals seeking external funding. Participate actively in Departmental activities and projects, as well as those at the College of Humanities and the Rio Piedras Campus level. Fulfill all other obligations of a teaching job.

Acquisitions Section
Requirements: PhD from an accredited university; MA in Library Science or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association; experience in academic libraries with automated functions; at least two years of experience in collection development and in the acquisition of information resources; knowledge of the book market and of electronic and print publications; basic knowledge of budget preparation and management in academic libraries; experience in the use of spread sheets, word processors, and other software helpful for presentations and tutorials preparation; experience in cataloging of information resources. Requirements: PhD in Knowledge Management, Information Science, Computer Science, Communications, Business Administration, Education, Psychology, or another discipline closely related to research topics in Knowledge Management, earned at an accredited higher-learning educational institution.
