El procedimiento require que el/la estudiante, o un representante de la escuela (como coodinador de electivas o profesor), solicite permiso de la Oficina de "Medical Staff" aqui. RURAL MEDICINE ELECTIVE--MEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AND CLINICS, KING CITY, CALIFORNIA. Available to students from LCME accredited medical schools who have completed the required third year clerkships. Length of rotation: 2-4 weeks by arrangement The rotation will focus on the delivery of health care in the rural setting. A major goal is to develop the student's knowledge and skills with common medical problems. Students will work primarily with preceptors in Family Medicine, unless prior arrangements are made and authorized to do a rotation in another specialty. There will be an opportunity to interact with physicians in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob-gyn, General Surgery, and Orthopedics, the majority of whom hold Volunteer Clinical Faculty appointments with the School of Medicine of the University of California, Davis. Students will work in both the outpatient and inpatient setting. King City is a town of 12,000 located in the Salinas Valley of California, about two and one half hours south of San Francisco. Mee Memorial Hospital has about 20 active medical/surgical beds, 6 labor and delivery rooms, a four bed ICU, and a 6 bed emergency room. The King City Clinic and Family Medicine Center are located adjacent to the hospital. The Mee Greenfield Clinic is located in the town of Greenfield, popultion 17,000, 12 miles to the north.
