Open position for: Confocal Applications Coordinator

Job description: The scientist will coordinate confocal microscopy applications such as FRET, FRAP, FLIP and others for experimental purposes. The position will require the scientist to be up to date with recent published scientific articles in order to identify applications of confocal and multiphoton microscopy that may be performed on active projects at the facility.  The scientist will also aid as a consultant for experimental design. As Coordinator, the scientist must act as the Neuroimaging and Electrophysiology Facility Manager in the absence of the Director.

Job Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biology
  • Postdoctoral experience
  • Previous experience with confocal and multiphoton microscopy

Duties:

  • Launch and coordinate microscopy and electrophysiology courses.
  • Establish collaborations and partnerships with the private sector that allow financial growth of the facility.
  • Maintain the facility under compliance of policies and regulations established by federal funding organizations and/or agreements established under MoU.
  • Provide reports, documents, and any other information required by the agencies or governing institutions as part of programs evaluation.
  • Write and submit local and federal proposals for the acquisition of funds to maintain the facility.
  • Provide scientific advice for the facility clients.
  • Evaluate the equipment needs of the facility in order to assess new equipment acquisitions.
  • Promote the use and capabilities of the facility between potential users inside and outside the campus.
  • Provide training and workshops events on microscopy sampling techniques.
