West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Biology invites applicants for the position of Molecular Biologist. This is a tenure track, Assistant Professor position starting August 2016. Actual starting salary is commensurate with experience.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Teaching: Teaching responsibilities include upper division courses in Molecular Genetics, Cell & Molecular Biology, Introduction to Recombinant DNA Technology, and introductory level courses in Cell Physiology for biology majors. The candidate may also be required to develop upper division special topics courses, or graduate courses in his/her specialty as needed. The teaching load at WCU is 12 student contact hours per week per semester.
 
Advising: Advise biology majors regarding academic planning and scheduling. Faculty must schedule 5 hours of advising/consultation time each week for students.
 
Research: Establish an active, externally funded research program involving graduate and/or undergraduate students. Research interest in some aspect of neurobiology is preferred. Faculty are expected to present results at national meetings and publish in refereed journals.
 
Service: Contribute to the university community and the department by serving on committees, helping to recruit potential students, and performing other services as needed.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
An earned doctorate in Cell and Molecular Biology or related discipline is required; candidate must be qualified to teach Molecular Genetics, Cell & Molecular Biology, Introduction to Recombinant DNA Technology, and introductory level Cell Physiology for biology majors.
