My name is Eloise Yount, and I am proud to say that I have the opportunity of conducting research at the UPRM in the interim period between my third and fourth years as an undergraduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am pursuing a degree in chemical and biomolecular engineering, and with that degree I plan to lay the foundation for a career focused on sustainable technology/renewable energy development and implementation.

The Victor M Blanco Fellowships were established by the National Society of Hispanic Physicists to encourage Hispanic students to pursue a degree in physics and astronomy. The program is a partnership between the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO), the Fermi National Laboratory (Fermilab), and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Vanderbilt University.

Desde que aprendemos historia de Puerto Rico en la escuela, se nos instruye  que el principal atractivo que tuvo Puerto Rico para que se convirtiera en una posesión deseada por los conquistadores fue su ubicación geográfica. Una posición privilegiada, localizada en medio de Las Américas y con acceso directo al continente europeo vía el océano Atlántico.
