NSF otorga subvención de $300 mil para la creación de sensores que detectan contaminantes biológicos

La Fundación Nacional de la Ciencias (NSF) otorgó una subvención de $300 mil a la doctora Claribel Acevedo Vélez, catedrática asociada del Departamento de Ingeniería Química (INQU), del Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM). Los fondos serán destinados al desarrollo de sensores para detectar contaminantes ambientales y biológicos, un proyecto en conjunto con la Universidad de Wisconsin, en Madison.

Catedrático del RUM es coautor de artículo publicado en la revista Science que arroja nuevo análisis sobre la historia evolutiva de las serpientes y lagartos

El doctor Timothy J. Colston, catedrático asociado del Departamento de Biología y director de la Colección de Recursos Genómicos del Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez (RUM) de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (UPR), es uno de los coautores de un artículo recién publicado en la prestigiosa revista científica Science, que arroja un nuevo análisis de la historia evolutiva de todas las serpientes y lagartos utilizando secuencias de ADN a escala genómica y datos fósiles.
