La abogacía se define como el acto o el proceso de apoyar una causa o propuesta. En las ciencias, este proceso es vital para lograr cambios y conlleva la unión de la comunidad científica como una sola voz. El verano de 2019 ha sido uno histórico para Puerto Rico en todos los aspectos y en este blog deseo destacar un suceso ocurrido que ejemplifica el poder de la abogacía científica en todo su esplendor: los cambios y nuevos nombramientos al Fideicomiso de Ciencia y Tecnología de Puerto Rico (FCTI)

Science advocacy mentoring program for early career scientists

The UCS Science Network is launching a science advocacy mentorship for early career scientists; the Science Network Mentor Program. They want to bridge the gap between your academic pursuits and your passion for advocacy, policy, and social justice.

Science advocacy mini-grants from Science Debate

Science Debate, Inc. (“SD”) requests applications for small, fundable projects (“mini grants”) from community organizers and science policy advocates across the US. At least 10 grants will be distributed to groups interested in organizing efforts and coordinating the mobilization of people to promote discussion of science policy by 2020 presidential candidates and participation in science forums organized by SD.

The Science for Public Good Fund

The UCS Science Network is excited to announce another round of the Science for Public Good Fund for science advocates. Science Network members can apply to the Fund for financial support of up to $1000, to be used for advocacy actions or related events to promote the role of science in public policy, with an emphasis on understanding and addressing local impacts.
