My name is Orlando I. Torres Rodríguez a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Sciences program at Ponce Health Sciences University. My thesis project focuses in the study of inflammatory processes mediated by microglia underlying in an animal model of PTSD. We also study learning and extinction of fear memories and anxiety under the guidance of Dr. James T. Porter's laboratory. I have been a member of Dr. Porter's laboratory for approximately five (5) years. My main task in this neuroscience-directed laboratory focused on collecting and analyzing the electrophysiology data; as well as running the behavioral protocols. We also perform molecular techniques such as: FACS, Western Blots, ELISA and RT-PCR.
