My current work focuses in the characterization of a calcium binding protein part of the EF hand superfamily called Human Centrin. This protein has key structural roles in centriole duplication, primary cilia formation and DNA repair processes. Our laboratory elucidates protein-protein interaction interfaces and mechanisms between Human Centrin and its target proteins. Techniques utilized include but are not restricted to: FT-IR, ITC, TFF,AKTA Purifications, SDS-PAGE, crystallization, SONICC, TP-UV, bacterial transformation, DNA isolation and low scale fermentation for overexpression of desired proteins.
