Neurodegenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, are characterized by pathological hallmarks. The identification and quantification of these molecular hallmarks through neuropathological analyses contributed to improve the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders with similar symptoms and clinical presentations. At present time, the diagnoses of neurodegenerative disorders are not neuropathologically confirmed in Puerto Rico. Therefore, postmortem brain tissue with diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders available at the Puerto Rico Institute of Forensic Sciences will be subjected to immunohistological analysis. The results obtain will contribute to validation of diagnostic practices and identification of pathological markers of neurodegenerative disorders in a, exclusive, Latino population.
