Puerto Rican astronomer receives prestigios award for women in science in Brazil

Puerto Rican Dr. Karin Menéndez-Delmestre, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, was one of seven female scientists to received an award from UNESCO, L'Oreal and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences recognizing outstanding women in science. Menéndez - Delmestre is a recognized authority in the field of the evolution of galaxies and seeks to understand the processes of their formation, through observations of the Milky Way and distant universes. Throughout her career, the scientist has produced 37 articles and more than 1,200 citations, of which 350 refer to her first author publications.
