San Juan, PR- A research article examining the application and study of the efficiency of nanostructured hybrid structures in hydrogen production processes was published in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences.

The research and development of the article "Biomimetic Catalysts Based on Au@TiO2-MoS2-CeO2 Composites for the Production of Hydrogen by Water Splitting", involved students and graduates of the Nanomaterials Research Group of the Gurabo Campus of the Ana G. Méndez University (UAGM), directed by Dr. Francisco Márquez.

The research presented in this publication is the result of a long and arduous work. It has been possible to develop it thanks to several collaborations with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. Also, thanks to the sponsorship of different organizations such as NSF Center for the Advancement of Wearable Technologies-CAWT (Grant 1849243), Consortium of Hybrid Resilient Energy Systems CHRES (DE-NA0003982), The Puerto Rico-Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (PR-LSAMP, HRD-2008186), and the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain (NanoCat-Com Project, PID2021-124667OB-I00).

The students who participated in the research are: graduates Kenneth Fontánez and Diego García and Dayna Ortiz, Paola Sierra Sampayo and Luis Hernández from the Department of Natural Sciences and Technology of the UAGM Gurabo Campus. They were mentored by Dr. Francisco Márquez and Dr. Abniel Machín from UAGM Cupey Campus.

International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an open access, peer-reviewed, international journal that provides an advanced forum for biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, biophysics and molecular medicine and all aspects of molecular research in chemistry. This is published biweekly online by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI).
