¡Achu! Libro de actividades sobre el coronavirus y la influenza

Este cuaderno de actividades está diseñado para que niños y niñas aprendan, de manera interactiva y divertida, sobre el coronavirus y la influenza. A través de ejercicios como sopas de letras, mensajes secretos y actividades para colorear, los estudiantes identifican los síntomas, formas de transmisión y prácticas clave para la prevención de enfermedades respiratorias. El material enfatiza la importancia del lavado de manos, el uso correcto del codo al toser o estornudar, y promueve hábitos saludables para protegerse y cuidar a su comunidad.

Mis amigos robóticos: Programando con símbolos

En esta actividad, los estudiantes exploran los conceptos básicos de la programación y la lógica de los algoritmos a través de una experiencia práctica y colaborativa. Utilizando un “Vocabulario Robot” simbólico y materiales sencillos como vasos descartables, los participantes deberán crear y codificar instrucciones para guiar a un compañero que actuará como “robot” y realizará diferentes apilados de vasos. La actividad enfatiza la importancia de la precisión, la depuración de errores y la utilidad de las funciones en la codificación. Adaptable para distintos niveles escolares, este ejercicio promueve el pensamiento lógico y el trabajo en equipo, facilitando una introducción lúdica a la robótica y las ciencias de computación

Due to the warming ocean temperatures, coral reefs around Puerto Rico have been under stress for more than 7 weeks in a row, which could provoke a massive bleaching event after October 27. If this bleaching occurs there could be negative effects of unknown magnitude to fishing, recreational and tourism industries.

A team of scientists and students at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez developed a material with magnetic properties that is able to remove components found in sunscreen that can be harmful to coral reefs and marine life.

The Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust  (PRSTRT) announced the establishment of the Vector Control Unit of Puerto Rico after receiving official announcement of the Center for Diseases Control & Prevention (CDC) for a collaborative agreement for this purpose. Such collaborative agreement will give the Trust a grant to create, manage and operate this unit.

Condado Beach, between La Concha and Marriott hotels, is one of the most visited by tourists and locals and it's also one of the most dangerous ones due to rip currents. To address the issue a group of residents, supported by technical and scientific staff, are proposing the installation of an artificial reef, 150 meters from the coast.
