This Diversity-focused day is designed to help participants understand therealities and benefits of diversity. The goal is to help participants becomemore aware of how differences between people affects the character of teachingand mentoring, learn how to recognize when racial and gender barriers areaffecting students and mentoring relationships, and learn effective ways ofcommunication and interaction with people different from ourselves.Participants will come away with tools to address some of the specificchallenges in communicating with, motivating, assessing, retaining andpromoting a diverse target audience.The event will begin at 11:00AM and lunch and afternoon refreshments will beprovided.Further event information and registration may be found athttp://www.med.nyu.edu/sackler/fse.
