INTER establishes collaboration agreements with four universities in India

San Juan, August 1, 2023 - The Inter-American University of Puerto Rico signed collaboration agreements with four universities in India aimed at developing educational efforts with an emphasis on science, research and technology. The respective agreements were established with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU) in the city of Kanpur, with GLA University (GLAU) in Mathura, Marwadi University in the city of Rajkot in the western state of Gujarat and Kanchi Mamunivar Centre in southern India. 

The general purpose of these agreements is to develop and implement programs and activities of common interest, especially in the areas of agriculture, biotechnology, artificial intelligence and optometry. With these agreements, it is expected that the universities will continue to open paths towards the science of the 21st century. "We have repeatedly discussed the importance of integrating and understanding the impact of artificial intelligence to solve environmental and sustainability challenges, among other issues," said the president of Inter-American University, Dr. Rafael Ramirez Rivera.

Through the aforementioned agreements, the educational institutions promote research, consultation and advisory services that favor academic training. They also promote the organization and participation in seminars, debates, colloquiums, symposiums and topics of interest. As well as, the participation in projects of common interest, exchange of professors and students and university research.

"From now on, we will be in common agreement with these institutions of higher education, united in the academic field and supporting the exchange of knowledge, research and dissemination, which is why we are more than satisfied with these agreements. The Inter-American University, once again, takes a step forward so that our faculty and students can enrich their knowledge and strengthen their leadership and experience.  We urge our university community to benefit from these efforts that result in great academic satisfaction," said Ramirez Rivera.

As part of the expansion of the internationalization of New Delhi University, the academic delegation met with Amarjiva Lochan, director of International Relations, to develop future plans between the two institutions. "Inter-American University and Delhi University already have a working relationship since Dr. Dinabandhu Sahoo from the Botany department has been at the Barranquitas campus collaborating with some lines of research," said the Inter-American president.

It is worth mentioning that the Inter-American delegation, composed by its president, the rector of the Barranquitas campus, Dr. Juan A. Negrón Berríos and Dr. Alok Arun, associate professor of the aforementioned campus, shared and exchanged impressions with the main executives of these four Indian universities.

Additionally, the academics participated in an interactive workshop organized by DAV Public School, Sector-49 called Empowering Minds in which the representatives of Inter presented the academic trajectory of the institution, its educational quality and the variety of its programs. While the school principal, Shri Rajan Gautam along with the students showed the students their rich cultural heritage through dance demonstrations and shared a video in which they addressed the theme of unity through diversity. The moment was propitious to invite the students to consider studying at a foreign university and broaden their personal and academic experience and study at Inter-American.

"As part of our visit to the DAV School, Sector-49, which provides prekindergarten through twelfth grade education, we agreed that we will soon sign an agreement with the intention of bringing students and faculty to Puerto Rico to receive workshops in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) and cultural activities," announced Ramirez Rivera. 

Finally, the Inter-American University president said that this effort was commissioned by Dr. Negrón Berríos and Dr. Alok as part of the academic development efforts of this academic unit and the science and biotechnology programs offered by this academic unit.
