"The incredible thing is that this is the first time they include Puerto Rico in this study" added the Secretary of Economic Development, Jorge Silva Puras.
The Battelle study, sponsored by BIO, took into consideration the total number of jobs in the biotech industry and the concentration and growth of those jobs. Silva Puras stated that Puerto Rico has 39,500 jobs in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical instrumentation and R&D sector.
