DESCRIPTION The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce the availability of a PAID internship at our home office in Alexandria, VA. This position will provide support to our Latino Initiatives department. Duration: Beginning Feb-December (dates and duration are negotiable) Hours: 10-15 hours per week (negotiable) RESPONSIBILITIES Social Media and Web-page • Building an organizational presence on social media, posting relevant information, responding to contacts, translating original blog posts on topics of interest; • Developing, implementing and monitoring successful social media campaign’s content in collaboration with the Latino Initiatives’ program Director; • Serving as primary team contact for all social media/Facebook, Twitter, blog; • Responding to all incoming inquiries emerging from all social media; • Assist with clips (translations) for placement of stories about the program’s events, ambassador’s interviews, radio scripts, press release, and talking points in collaboration with the Latino Initiatives’ program Director; communications and marketing department; • Assisting with content development and editor (English/Spanish language) for all online platforms in collaboration with ADA’s communications department, the Latino Initiatives program Director and Spanish Facebook’s developer; • Assisting with management of social media platforms (Facebook, Blog, Twitter); • Contributing and overseeing all written materials – game notes, e-press releases, Facebook, Twitter - promotional activities, promotional tabs, etc. and • Monitoring the production of monthly data and final report emerging from all social media platforms. Program • Review content health information geared to the Hispanic/Latino constituents; • Ability to organized and coordinate project’s information to coordinate activities with other departments within the Association; • Ability to research; organized and present data relevant to Diabetes and Hispanic/Latinos in the US; • Compile; edit and present health information in Spanish. REQUIREMENTS • Knowledge and experience in the communications field. • Most be a graduate student; public health communications or related field preferably. • Proficient with brand usage of Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, webpages. • Ability to work well with people in a team environment. • Fluency in Spanish preferred. • Requires self starter with positive attitude and can-do spirit. • Strong writing and interpersonal skills a must.
