University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus (UPRMSC) Research Faculty in Bioinformatics (Tenure Track)

Candidates are invited to apply for a tenure track faculty position at associate or full professor level. The recruited investigator must have independent research support, and is expected to serve as a leader in the development of the bioinformatics field at the UPRMSC. The candidate is also expected to recruit and supervise a masters level investigator who will provide bioinformatics support to UPRMSC faculty currently performing studies at the molecular level that generate large amounts of heterogeneous data.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Statistics, Computational Biology, or related field. Experience analyzing and interpreting high-throughput genomics and/or proteomics data is required. Strong leadership skills; superior publication records in both collaborative and independent, research and evidence of successful fundraising, are essential. The candidate should have demonstrated ability to develop research collaborations and be able to independently and successfully initiate and develop research projects. The preferred candidate will have completed research involving next-generation sequencing data. Qualifying degree confirmation must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Spanish language capabilities or willingness to learn is desirable.

The UPRMSC offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package including health insurance, pension and retirement plan, paid parental leave, savings program, as well as differed compensation plan. The recruitment package includes funds for recruitment one post-doctoral trainee, one technical assistant, moving expenses, and remodeling of laboratory space. Computational resources available from the Bioinformatics Resource Center (BiRC) include linux cluster with 1500 cores, 3.5 TB RAM, and 60 TB parallel file systems.
