Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Biostatistics

The Department of Mathematics and the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas (UNT) invite applications for a joint tenure-track Assistant Professor position which is expected to have 60% appointment in the Department of Mathematics and 40% in the Department of Biological Sciences, with tenure being in the Department of Mathematics. This appointment is expected to begin in Fall 2020.

The responsibilities of this position are to pursue research and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including biostatistics. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience, a record of scholarship and publication in journals appropriate for the field of study, an ability and plan to obtain extramural funding, collaborative research experience in biology and/or environmental science, and teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

With about 38,000 students, UNT is the largest university in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and the 33^rd largest in the nation. We offer 101 bachelor’s degrees, 82 master's degrees, and 38 doctoral degrees, many of which are nationally and internationally recognized. UNT’s Denton campus is a student-focused public research university and is the flagship of the UNT System. The Department of Mathematics has 34 faculty members and about 60 graduate students, and the Department of Biological Sciences has more than 40 faculty members and about 170 graduate students.
