Capeco still in trouble

As recently as a week ago, a strong chemical smell was detected in the facilities of the Caribbean Petroleum Company (Capeco). The source of the emissions were containers in the waste disposal area of the facilities, which should have been removed by a contractor but were not, because the contractor abandoned the job for lack of pay from Capeco.

Nine municipalities in Puerto Rico are considered to be "tsunami ready" because they have signage for evacuation routes, they have oriented the population about and emergency plan and they have had drills ot their tsunami emergency plan. However, most of the Puerto Rican population doesn't know what to do in case of a tsunami.

We need to be earthquake ready

According to the director of the Puerto Rico Seismic Network, the possibility of an earthquake accompanied by a tsunami is real year round, so Puerto Ricans need to be ready and have an emergency plan just as they do during hurricane season.
