Most leave surprised at what they are given a chance to do. Over the next two weeks, the Researcher News is presenting a few of their stories. UPR ranks 15th in research activities amongst Latin-American and Caribbean institutions

The Scimago Research Group has published the Ibero-American Ranking SIR 2010, which includes the 607 ibero-American universities (Latin-American plus Spain and Portugal) that published at least one scientific paper included in Scopus database during term 2003-2008. The government does not have permits to build gas pipeline

Legislator Jorge Colberg said in a press conference that the government is announcing that the Vía Verde gas pipeline will be ready in a year and a half without even having the permits from the EPA, the United States Fish and Wildlife or the Corp of Engineers.

Transparency criminalized in Puerto Rico

Mario Marazzi-Santiago has been suspended as the director of the Statistics Institute of Puerto Rico, after requesting, via lawsuit, the Department of Work and Human Resources to publish the Consumer Price Indexes, which the Institute had previously shown were being overestimated, and probably affecting negatively the Puerto Rican economy.
