The University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus will receive on October 10th three members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. Doctors Leonard Nurse, Anthony Chen, and John Agard will discuss climate change and in particular its effects in the Caribbean.

Given that the final report about the environmental evaluation for the construction of the pipeline (Gasoducto) has not been finalized, the US Army Corps of Engineers will probably take a decision next year. Nancy Sticht, spoken person for the US Army Corps of Engineers, exhorts the communities to give any information that the Corps might not have about the project.

Environmental talks in schools are defended

Energy answers will offer a series of talks about the incinerator in Arecibo. The speakers will be representatives of the company itself. Citizens have expressed their concern about environmental talks being offered by the Department of Education at several school. The speakers are representatives of a company that wants to build an incinerator in the area near the schools, raising concerns they are trying to lobby for that project.
