The presentation of a new coding language to allow people with disabilities to program using voice commands, created by students of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedrasm won second places in the Best Demo category at the ASSETS 2015 competition that took place recently in Lisbon, Portugal.

According to Dr. Abel Baerga, Professor at the Medical Sciences Campus from the University of Puerto Rico, human beings have been overfishing the oceans leading to a decrease in the principal source of Omega 3, a bacteria that resides inside those fish. For this reason, his laboratory investigates the Biosynthesis of polyunsaturated fatty acids in marine bacteria, with the purpose of reproducing the compound in a different bacteria with the capacity to be grown in the lab.

The Executive Director from the Center for Investigation, Education and Medical Services for Diabetes, better known as the Puerto Rican Center for Diabetes (CDPR), Ramon Alejandro Pabon, together with the Medical Director, Jose Cangiano, announced that the CDPR was ready to offer training in public and private schools to establish the neccessary attention for students with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, according to new Law Number 199 (Demeber/2015)
