Jennifer Gil, a young Puerto Rican scientists will go to Panama in October where she will spend 9 months cllecting microalgae and documenting her findings through various digital platforms. Gil received the Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship, the first Puerto Rican to do so, and the only Latina in the group this year.

Cayo Santiago, best known as Monkey Island, was declared a scientific reserve by Gov. Ricardo Rosselló. Cayo Santiago is an important and world-renowned research center.
