The Puerto Rico Section of the American Chemical Society is hosting the 73rd Southeastern Regional ACS meeting (SERMACS 2022), which will be held on October 19-22, 2022 in beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico. The theme of the meeting is “CHEMISTRY TRANSCENDING BOUNDARIES FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE”. Our Local Section last hosted this meeting in 2009 with a record number of attendees and this year we are hoping to establish a new record.

Proyecto SEED: Investigación de verano en UPR-RP para estudiantes de secundaria

El Proyecto SEED es una experiencia única para estudiantes de escuela superior que quieran hacer investigación en el Recinto de Río Piedras de la Universidad de Puerto Rico o en Ana G. Méndez-Gurabo.  Se seleccionarán tres estudiantes para SEED I y 5 estudiantes que participaron en SEED I continuarán en SEED II.  Los ocho estudiantes llevarán a cabo investigación bajo la supervisión de distinguidos investigadores.

Puerto Rican students win in california

San Francisco, California (April 3, 2017) - Student chapters from the Puerto Rico Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) received the Outstanding Student Chapter Award, the highest award given by this organization. These Puerto Rican student chapters stood amongst the best chapters due to their academic, voluntary and outreach  efforts in and outside the country.

14 High School students graduate from project seed

During this summer fourteen talented high school students are participating in summer resarch through Project Seed, an initiative sponsored by the American Chemical Society (ACS). This program takes place at the Faculty of Natural Sciences in the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus.

Professor from UPR Río Piedras: First Hispanic Woman to become director at large for ACS

"Women are able to hold many roles and to succeed in each one of them", affirmed Dr. Ingrid Montes, Chemistry Professor at UPR-RP. Dr. Montes became the first hispanic woman to be elected to the Board of General Directors of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
