My research focuses on tropical meteorology, with a specialization on the Madden Julian Oscillation (a pulse of convection and wind anomalies with a period of 30-90 days). It has widespread impacts around the globe, ranging from flood events, hurricane modulation to El Niño connections. In the Caribbean zone, it is known to modulate hurricane activity and rainfall.
One of my goals is to understand how this oscillation begins and propagates. I will be in the Indian Ocean next year in a project that seeks to further understand this phenomena.
