Experienced social scientist with a focus on post-disaster(s) future(s), inequality, climate change and society. Ample experience in positive youth leadership, K-20, social and economic inequality, qualitative research, human dimensions, marine protected areas, and STEM education and STEM fields and workforce. Commitment to community-driven approaches and scientific engagement. Past professional experience in public and nonprofit sectors with a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology. Fully bilingual (Spanish native and English) professional skilled at designing, forging, and participating in collaborations such as building partnerships with individuals and institutions.
In May 2017, I obtained my doctoral degree in Sociocultural and Environmental Anthropology at American University, Washington DC. I am a former NSF GRFP fellow.
My areas of interests are: Coastal and Marine environments, environmental anthropology, and public health.
Starting in the fall 2016, I work at the National Science Foundation (NSF).
From 2007-2013, I worked as educational consultant. For example, I collaborated with UPR Cayey at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (IIR), where I created materials in Spanish about research training opportunities as well as academic and professioanl developments.
From 2009-2011, I worked at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency at the Office of Research and Development.
I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. I attended the University High School (UHS) class of 2001.
I have done research in topics such as community based research, diabetes, STDs, depression, coastal and marine affairs, marine extension, anthropology, Puerto Rico, Michigan, US federal government, genetics, family health history, Latinos.

I studied a semester at UPR Rio Piedras and another term at UPR Mayaguez.
