About Me and Project Info

About Me:

I'm a postdoctoral fellow in the Chemistry Department at Harvard. My expertise is theoretical quantum physics, with interest in applications for light harvesting.

I was theoretical physics graduate student at University of Texas at Austin, working on my PhD in the field of Quantum Information, and earned my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering from UPR Mayagüez.

Project Info:

The universe we live in lies in the intersection of quantum mechanics and thermodynamics, yet there is no comprehensive way to connect these two fields in a practical way.

I am discovering the fundamental principles of how environmental (thermodynamic) quantum effects assist and prevent efficient energy transfer in light harvesting systems, such as photosynthetic complexes or organic photovoltaics.

I have developed a new theory of Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory for Open Quantum Systems for this approach.

I am also applying concepts from Quantum Information and Quantum Thermodynamics to develop new engineering principles for energy transfer.
