Research Assitant at PR-Outlook: "There is very little information on when or what situations contribute to the development of cardiovascular diseases at an early age. PR-OUTLOOK will study for the first time how different types of stress could affect the cardiovascular health of young Puerto Ricans. Cardiovascular diseases and diabetes are leading causes of disability and death in Puerto Rico. No one knows why Puerto Ricans have a higher risk of cardiovascular disease compared to other Hispanics and other ethnic groups in the United States. This information is necessary to develop strategies to prevent or delay the onset of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases at an early age."
