Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
My current interests invovle the role of cell adhesion molecules in cellular movements during morphogenesis. My efforts focus on understanding the mechanical forces created by homophilic binding necessary for neural tube closure. In the future, I plan to study how these forces work during axon guidance in developing neural networks. Our animal model is Ciona intestinalis, a chordate ancestor with a simplified genomic and cellular composition.
