Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
I'm a Ph.D. Candidate in the Biological Sciences Department focusing my research on Microbial Ecology. I study adaptive traits related to bacterial resource utilization, growth efficiency and environmental responsiveness considering the implications of tradeoffs to better understand bacterial community assembly, maintenance of bacterial diversity, and bacterial contributions to ecosystems function.
In my dissertation research, I evaluate the causes and consequences of an ecophysiological tradeoff between growth efficiency and environmental responsiveness mediated by protein half-life. I have applied multiple approaches, including comparative biology, ecological modeling, long-term selection experiments, and comparative genomics.
