Our group is focused on the understanding of the genetic and epigenetic architecture of psychiatric disorders. We use cutting-edge approaches to dissect the genomic and epigenomic landscape of psychiatric disorders in human peripheral and postmortem brain tissue. We focused on the study of substance use disorders, trauma (child abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder), and major depression. Multi-omics datasets (genomics, methylomics, transcriptomics, proteomics) are investigated to understand better the underlying mechanisms and identify predictors or biomarkers for these disorders. We also seek to advance psychiatric genomics in LatinX populations based on our work in the Latin American Genomics Consortium (LAGC) and Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC).
