Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
My personal dream is to wake up every day to the dependence that my future job shall offer in the betterment of health and science. I desire to live of the motivation that derives from tackling day-to-day neurological cases by investigating the forms of immunology for every surgical procedure I may or may not go forth with. If a patient is under a conflict requiring neurosurgical measurements, only for me to identify that his scenario cannot be modified through any medical application, what can I do to prevent his or her death?...To answer such question, I wish to engage in the field of neuroscience as my major while complementing it with undergraduate research investigations along a group of mentors and students. In this manner, I can apply my knowledge of investigation in medical school to be both a neurosurgeon and researcher in the field.
I am interested in studying neuroplasticity, neuropharmacology, and neuroanatomy to integrate these fields in investigations and projects, concerning the development of new preventives for inoperable cases in neurosurgery. Integrating such topics in medicine will allow me to fulfill my personal interest of going beyond the normality of either preventing or treating a patient. Studying medical cases will be my priority: developing new surgery methods to save what cannot be treated and modify what can be treated in a way that it does not erect secondary conflicts onto patients. The last research idea I developed was under the topic of stimulation of dopamine neurons and their response to unanticipated events.
