Our laboratory studies the interplay between bacterial pathogens and the mammalian host. Specifically, we are interested in gaining insight into how bacterial pathogens sense different host environments to modulate the expression of virulence factors that can tamper with the host immune system to promote disease. To address these questions, we are employing a variety of techniques and approaches including genetics, immunology, biochemistry, proteomics, microarrays, tissue culture, and animal models of infection.
