Grand Canyon Trust – Field Biology Intern
Flagstaff, AZ May 26- June 22 2015; May - July 2013
• Performed songbird surveys and raptor nest surveys on Paria Plateau, North Central AZ
• Worked in the field without supervision with one other undergraduate student
• Responsible for the data management, quality and collection
• Organized data in GIS and Microsoft Excel, performed statistical analysis with EstimateS software
Was asked back to continue this research for their 2015 collection
University of Puerto Rico LTER Program – Research Assistant
El Yunque, Rio Grande, PR Sept – Dec 2014
• Responsible for data collection of the UPR Chronosequence Project
• Protocol included identifying tree species, measuring diameter of trees with >1cm diameter and noting health condition of trees
• Worked in groups of 3 or more people to complete the task, alternating between logging the data and taking the measurements
• Organized data using Excel
Whitman College – Field Botany Intern
Walla Walla, WA June – July 2014
• Mentored a Whitman College student in his Senior Research by teaching him how to collect plant specimen from the field, how to use a plant key and how to press specimen
• Collected plant specimen from a 12 m x 12 m transect
• Counted Yellow Star Thistle species, number of blooms and stage of bloom in the field
• Identified and pressed collected specimen in the lab
Grand Canyon Trust –Student Volunteer
Escalante, UT Sept 2012
• Collected data detailing the health of aspen stands in Utah state after the introduction of ungulates
• Cut aspen cores to analyze for age
• Photo documented ungulate stress on landscape
• Collected data on beaver populations in Utah state, measured dimensions of beaver dams
• Organized first Escalante, UT Beaver Festival to educate community on ecological importance of beavers
Non-Profit and Management Experience
Walla Walla Watershed Management Partnership – Summer Intern
Walla Walla, WA June – Aug 2014
• Wrote and researched grant proposals for Federal funding
• The Partnership works to help ensure the Walla Walla River Basin is appropriately allocated to the various stakeholders in the region, I participated in public policy and project management discussions with stakeholders
• Created GIS maps of the Walla Walla River Basin for public presentations
• Performed water sampling on local streams and rivers
• Salvaged native fish in drying streams
• Updated website to better communicate the mission of the Partnership
Washington Water Trust - Summer Intern
Seattle, WA May – Aug 2012
• Managed and organized data on WA state water systems on Excel and Microsoft Word
• Reviewed and edited public policy documents
• Created GIS maps of WA state water systems for State Government, Federal Government and public use
• Collected stream flow data for the Dungeness Water Basin
• Coordinated volunteers for the Annual Teanaway River Festival, a festival held to celebrate the increased stream flow the Trust has helped restore
• Organized event necessities for the Festival

Semester in the West Epiphanies

• In 2012 I was a participant in the semester program entitled Semester in the West, wherein a class toured the West of the United States to understand environmental issues through political, cultural, scientific and humanitarian perspectives
• To conclude the program a public presentation was given to the community to detail our experience
