Vermont EPSCoR offers paid summer internships for undergraduates through two grants: Research on Adaptation to Climate Change (RACC - www.uvm.edu/epscor/undergrad) and Northeast Water Resources Network (NEWRnet - http://newrnet.org/undergrad).  Students spend 10 weeks designing and working on their own independent projects, and present their results at the annual research symposium the following spring. Students majoring in any social science or natural science field should take a look at the 2015 project listings!  Application deadlines: February 6 (RACC internship) and February 20 (NEWRnet internship)
