While the number of PhDs conferred in the U.S. has increased over the past several decades, the number of tenure-track faculty positions has remained flat. Recent studies have illuminated the change in career decisions of some PhDs over time, but none has described or visualized a career map detailing where recent PhDs are currently employed.

Hace exactamente dos años que recibí mi doctorado. Fue un martes 15 de enero de 2013.

Desde entonces algunas cosas han cambiado y otras no. Cambié el bench por la divulgación; el microscopio por Twitter; las pipetas por YouTube. Aunque ya no hago investigación en un laboratorio, mi amor por descubrir, por aprender y conocer sigue intacto.

Hoy en vez de pensar en experimentos gusanitos y microscopios pienso en como acercar la ciencia a la gente. Hoy en vez de generar conocimiento, lo comparto. Mi rol en el proceso científico se ha transformado.
