The Centro Criollo de Ciencia y Tecnología del Caribe (C3TeC, Caribbean Criollo Center for Science and Technology), located in Caguas, will open its doors tomorrow Tuesday August 12 to its permanent exhibit "Our bodies, our island, our planet." This concludes the last phase in the establishment of the Center, a municipal $25 million dollar  initiative, envisioned by the late ex-mayor of Caguas, William Miranda Marín, as part of a new vision for the socio-economic development of the region. Tasha Endara, Executive Director of C3TeC, indicated that the Center expects to receive approximately 50,000 visitors each year, a boon to the local businesses which have expanded in the Caguas downtown. The Center has also generated more than 100 indirect jobs and employs 22 full-time staff.

The new permanent exhibit was designed to awaken curiosity in young people and interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). It consists of 32 stations, aligned to the science and math curriculum of Puerto Rico's Education Department. In addition to the exhibit, the C3TeC has a physics laboratory for public demonstrations, a 3D movie theater, and a green roof patio with solar panels.
