Two participants from the FAZD Center in the Summer Research Team Program for Minority Serving Institutions will make a presentation Aug. 24 to Under Secretary Jay M. Cohen of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate.
They are Dr. Edu B. Suarez-Martinez (on right in photo), associate professor from the University of Puerto Rico-Ponce, and Noried M. DeJesus-Velazquez, an undergraduate from UPR-Ponce.
Suarez-Martinez and DeJesus-Velazquez conducted research over the summer with FAZD Center principal investigator Dr. Blanca Lupiani, assistant professor in the Department of Pathobiology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M University.
They are among two groups chosen by the DHS University Network to make presentations to Undersecretary Cohen. The presentation will cover what Suarez-Martinez and DeJesus-Velazquez learned from the Summer Research Team Program.
