Students from Puerto Rican and U.S.-based institutions are spending the summer at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez participating of the Research Experience for Undergraduates in Reconfigurable and Multifunctional Soft Materials (REU RMSM) program, based at the Department of Chemical Engineering. The program is funded by the National Science Foundation and the Institut for Functional Nanomaterials.

In additional to doing research the students will benefit from technical presentations by UPRM faculty, as well as scientific and professional development workshops.
