New Connections: Increasing Diversity of RWJF Programming is delighted to offer an array of professional development opportunities this year! To streamline application processes, the applications for several of our network services have been combined into one application called the 2017 Common Application for network services. The application will close Friday, April 28, 2017. The application is for the services listed below.

New Connections: Increasing Diversity of RWJF Programming is committed to providing resources needed to succeed as junior researchers. One way to achieve this is by providing career development opportunities and promoting collaboration on research among our grantees, alumni and network members. New Connections Publication Support will serve as a vehicle for intra/interdisciplinary collaboration on research that will lead to the development of a manuscript for publication or research dissemination. New Connections has financial support available, in the form of reimbursement, for expenses related to research dissemination. Activities eligible for reimbursement include journal publishing fees, editing and statistical consultation, statistical software, poster printing fees and more.
New Connections hosts a mentorship program for junior faculty. The program will pair a select group of early career New Connections network members with senior faculty/researchers beginning in June 2017. Senior scholars will also provide guidance with other career development concerns such as achieving work/life balance, advice for managing research projects, suggestions for choosing research collaborators, and other areas of interest.
New Connections is sponsoring a Scholars' Writing Retreat, August 9-11, 2017, at the University of Colorado Denver, for a limited number of network members seeking ideas and support for designing a new research project, book chapter, or book.
The Scholars' Writing Retreat is designed to provide the opportunity for intensive, focused, non-distracting supervised writing time so that you may make significant progress toward the completion of your project. The Retreat is designed specifically for scholars who are in the initial stages of designing new research projects.
New Connections will be sponsoring methodological training at the ICPSR Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research (ICPSR) this summer for a limited number of network members for courses 3-5 days in length. The ICPSR Summer Program provides rigorous, hands-on training in statistical techniques, research methodologies, and data analysis. ICPSR Summer Program courses emphasize the integration of methodological strategies with the theoretical and practical concerns that arise in research on substantive issues. The Summer Program's broad curriculum is designed to fulfill the needs of researchers throughout their careers.

Total Awards
- Grants of up to $50,000 each will be awarded through this program.
- A total of up to 20 grants will be awarded.
- Of the 20 grants awarded in this funding round, up to two grants will be designated for New Connections-Policies for Action awards.
- Grants will be 12 months in duration.
