CANCER RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY - SUMMER 2026

Application Deadline: January 23, 2026

We invite master's and health professions students to apply for our NCI-funded Cancer Prevention and Control (CAPAC) Research Training Program  (award # 5R25CA240120-07), hosted by the University of Puerto Rico Comprehensive Cancer Center from May 26 to July 31, 2026, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA. For its 6th consecutive year, the program will offer a hands-on cancer prevention and control research experience.

A primary goal of CAPAC is to increase the number of master’s degree graduates and other health professionals who pursue a doctoral degree and/or a career as cancer researchers. Each year, CAPAC recruits 25 graduate/health professional students and recent graduates from all academic backgrounds to participate in a 10-week hands-on full-time research experience in Puerto Rico under the supervision of an assigned research mentor. Upon application and evaluation, the program will support a maximum of 6 trainees to extend their research experience for up to 15 weeks. The program also provides educational and professional seminars and workshops for trainees.
