Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences Biomedical Sciences Ph.D. and RISE Program is accepting applications for 2013 admission!
 
Application deadline is January 15, 2013. Admission requirements for incoming students and application forms can be found online at
 
Students accepted to and enrolled full time in the Ph.D. program will be considered for appointment in the NIH-RISE program. Students must be US citizens or permanent residents to eligible. RISE admission decisions will be made after students have been officially accepted into the PhD program.
 
Incoming PhD students (new applicants) will be selected based on: Undergraduate GPA and coursework, GRE score, research experience, post-bachelor’s coursework, presentations/publications, interview, and writing sample.
 
Students currently enrolled in the PSMHS PhD program will be selected based on: Graduate GPA, progress towards PhD, presentations and publications, fellowship applications and letters of recommendation from research mentors.
 
To improve performance, participation and success of selected trainees in the Ph.D. & RISE programs, they receive: $21,000 annual salary, $2,400 per year for lab supplies, $2,000 per year for travel to scientific conferences, tuition waiver, continuous team-based and individual mentoring, hands-on professional development and research training, advanced instruction in communication and writing skills, and networking opportunities.
