ISEF / JSHS ex-Participants

Hi: I was wondering if there's any of the members of CienciaPR that were participants of ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) or JSHS (Junior Science and Humanities Symposium) (we called it in those days "El Congreso de Investigacion Cientifica). I attended ISEF in 94 in Alabama and the JSHS the same year. Have a great day! Marcos Lopez

Marcos, Saludos I also participated in ISEF '94 in Alabama, with a team project regarding some work on plantain sap and TB. We got some award there and went to the Feria cientifica del cono sur in Argentina later that year. I have also met other people in the site that participated in ISEF that same year, and I am sure there are people that participated other years as well. Daniel

Hola Daniel: I attended ISEF in 94. It was a great experience and helped me a lot through my college years. In the PR State Fair in San German I won one of the UPR full scholarships. That paid all my BS in Chemistry and gave me also health insurance from the university. When I went to ISEF I participated in the biochemistry area with a project involving the biotransformation of pineapple wastes sterols. I also won the JSHS in Puerto Rico and went to North Carolina to present my work orally in the National JSHS. It was a great experience. If I'm right, were you from the Arquidiocesis region? I will check my abstracts book sometime.... I was representing Humacao region..... Have a great day and congrats for your K99 award.... and thanks for this innitiative that you have started.
