Start Date: August 1, 2008 to July 31st, 2010 Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in sciences, with at least three years of administrative experience and/or advanced degree (e.g., MS in Hospital Administration, MPH). Must be completely bilingual – English/Spanish both spoken and written. Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point). Highly organized, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. People and teamwork oriented. Must have P.R. drivers license, car and be willing to travel to San Juan and other parts of the island when required. Available for travels to Moffitt in Tampa, FL for training and job-related purposes. Job Description: Will be responsible for the coordination of all activities that are part of the Tissue Procurement Core (TPC) that is part of the PSM-Moffitt Cancer Center Partnership. This partnership is funded by the NIH through a U56 grant. The TPS will serve as a liason between the U56 Administrative Core and the hospital administrators, pathologists, and operating room personnel at the collaborating clinical sites. Responsibilities of the TPS include: facilitating informed consent of participants prior to surgery; ensuring proper acquisition, handling and storage of the tissues accrued; documenting all aspects of tissue accrual; obtaining linked pathological information; and development and maintenance of a database of tissues accrued, following HIPAA and IRB regulations. He/She will be in charge of the coordination of meetings between the Tissue Procurement Core Co-leaders at Moffitt and PSM, of documenting all activities of the TPC, and coordinating of all tissue procurement activities at the clinical sites.
