Applications are invited for a 12-month full time Lecturer position in the Department of Microbiology. This is a non-tenure track appointment with the expectation of renewable 3-5 year terms. An M.S. or Ph.D. degree in the biological sciences is required, and preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience in microbiology lecture and laboratory courses. The potential to be an outstanding teacher in both the laboratory and the classroom will be the most important criterion for evaluating applicants. UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for lecturing in one or two introductory microbiology courses during the year and for overseeing the teaching of a laboratory course each quarter. Additional responsibilities include training and supervision of student teaching assistants, student advising, the maintenance of a culture collection for the laboratories, providing demonstrations for medical student courses, participation on relevant committees, and assisting other members of the faculty in exam preparation, proctoring, grading, and course administration.
